The Secretariat of the Maronite Patriarchate issued the following: In the October 2020 session, the Synod of the Maronite Patriarchal Church elected Priest Antoine Fares Bou Negm as Bishop of the Diocese of Antelias, succeeding the Triangle of Mercy, Monsignor Camille Zeidan. His Holiness Pope Francis granted him ecclesiastical communion according to the Code of Canons of the Eastern Churches.
The new archbishop was born in Harharia Al-Qattain (Keserwan district) on August 10, 1967. He entered the seminary of Ghazir, named after the diocese of Antelias in 1983. He studied philosophy and theology at the Pontifical College of Theology. Kaslik, and was a priest on July 10, 1994 by laying the hand of the Triangle of Mercy, Archbishop Yusef Bishara.
He attended an intensive course on priestly spirituality for a year in Italy, then moved to Paris, where he obtained a master’s degree in pastoral theology at its Catholic Institute, specializing in Christian-Muslim dialogue.
The new archbishop exercised pastoral, administrative, educational and instructional activities and responsibilities, and his priesthood was distinguished by spirituality and proximity to youth of all classes and pastoral outreach.
His episcopal ordination will be celebrated in the Patriarchal Chair – Bkerke by the imposition of the hand of His Beatitude and Honorable Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bishara Boutros Al-Rahi and the participation of the Bishops on Friday, April 9, 2021, at five in the afternoon . .
