The Lebanese channel “mtv” reported that the fuel schedule for this week indicates a further increase in fuel prices.
The website quoted Fadi Abu Chakra, a representative of the fuel distributors, in “Voice of All Lebanon”, in which he revealed the reasons for the recent increase in fuel prices.
Abu Shakra stated that “there is no link to the issue of the increase in subsidies in this context. Rather, the rise comes in line with the rise in the global price of a barrel of oil, which reached 64 dollars.”
According to the World Bank, 45% of the Lebanese population lives below the poverty line and 22% below the extreme poverty line.
Political instability in the country since October 2019 and the global pandemic have exacerbated the economic crisis, and the Corona virus outbreak has pushed the country to impose several closures since March 2020.
