Biden extends travel restrictions to those coming from Europe and Brazil, and adds South Africa

On Monday, United States President Joe Biden signed an order preventing most non-US citizens who recently visited South Africa from entering the United States starting Saturday.

Trump’s order also reimposes an entry ban, expected to end on Tuesday, on all non-U.S. Travelers who have visited Brazil, Britain, Ireland and 26 countries in Europe that allow travel across open borders. Last week, the former president of the United States, Donald Trump, canceled these restrictions that were imposed last year, and the cancellation will take effect as of Tuesday.

“With the spread of the pandemic and the spread of more contagious strains (of the coronavirus), this is not the time to lift restrictions on international travel,” said White House spokeswoman Jane Saki.
