After circulating recordings on social networks, about “problems that occurred in front of the Rafic Hariri International Airport, on Wednesday, between airport taxi drivers and members of the army who dispersed them after they blocked the road in front of the Arrivals Hall, in protest against hotels transporting citizens and arrivals to Lebanon, “the leadership of the airport security apparatus stated in a statement that:

First: the citizen returning to Lebanon pays the price of the PCR test and the hotel rent for several days before boarding the plane, and therefore the hotels insure the transportation of arrivals to them within the rate, so that the Lebanese citizen cannot be charged a transportation fee in addition to the amount.

Second: The curfew decision prohibits public drivers from traveling except under special permits.

Third: The direction of the airport security apparatus, in order to guarantee the regularity of the work, allowed the hotel buses to stop in front of the Arrivals Hall to transport the arrivals to accompany the patrols of the State Security Directorate , and this is the reason for the objection of the drivers who considered that they are the first to transport the arrivals.

According to the statement, “this issue was explained several times to the drivers, who made them understand that the measure is temporary until the closure decision is finalized, but they insisted on blocking the road and causing chaos in front of the airport.”

The statement concluded: “The leadership of the airport security service calls on citizens, including drivers, to show discipline for the success of the government’s plan to limit the spread of the Corona pandemic, and this leadership will not allow any violation of security under no pretext, so clarification is required. “
