Germany: Biden administration ditching fallout from Trump’s European approach

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas announced his country’s willingness to support the efforts of the Joe Biden administration to eliminate the results of the policy practiced by outgoing US President Donald Trump.

Maas tweeted on his Twitter account, saying: “Biden will be very busy removing the remaining debris from Trump. We are ready to actively support that, especially with regard to the Biden initiative, the coalition of democracies, which is fully consistent with our own initiative, which is the Alliance for Multilateralism. The head of German diplomacy stressed that the Biden administration gets rid of the consequences of Trump’s approach that serves the interests of all European countries.

In an interview with the NTV channel, Maas, who is currently in Cairo, Maas said that overcoming the internal problems of the United States “is a condition for his return as soon as possible to the international arena, as a responsible party.”

The German minister noted that the objective of his visit to Egypt is to seek to organize direct Palestinian-Israeli negotiations, explaining that he and the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and France have made intense efforts in recent months to build channels of dialogue between the Israeli government. and the Palestinian Authority.

In this sense, Maas expressed his hope that the arrival of the new US administration to the White House will give new impetus to this process. He added: “It is imperative to resolve the conflict in the Middle East today, because that will create the conditions to effectively resolve other conflicts in the region.”
