Accused of robbing Congress … From the Proud Boys?

With these words, the outgoing president of the United States, Donald Trump, addressed, for the first time and directly during his speech, a specific group of his supporters called “Proud Boys” or “The Proud Boys”.

In the chaos in Washington on Wednesday, the guilty finger was directed at this group, which emerged during the presidential election as one of the right-wing groups supporting President Donald Trump.

Trump sympathizers stormed the Congress building while the House and Senate were in session, to certify the results of the presidential elections, leading to the suspension of the session.

The Washington Police Chief said the assault operation resulted in the death of 4 people and 14 police officers injured, while the mayor of Washington announced a curfew in the city from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. in the morning local time. Congress has resumed its sessions to complete the approval process for the election results.

Most of the Proud Boys are made up solely of men, and are seen as a group that upholds neo-fascist ideology, upholds Western values, and refuses to apologize for creating the modern world.

The movement says it supports the rights of expression and the bearing of arms, and opposes opening borders to migrants.

The group has emerged recently, and despite its official rejection of racism, many of its members belong to white supremacist groups, prompting the American intelligence community to describe them as the most dangerous white fanatic group.

The group was founded in 2016 through far-right Taki’s Magazine, run by Canadian Vice Media co-founder, former commentator Gavin McNnes, who described it as a “men’s club” or brotherly.

The name of this group is derived from the song “Proud of Your Boy”, from the 2011 Disney musical Aladdin Show.
