Southampton dropped their guest star Liverpool by beating them 1-0 at the end of the seventeenth stage of England’s soccer championship on Monday, and they did a great service to the chasing teams.
And Liverpool stayed at 33 points, on goal difference, from Manchester United, who have a postponed away game against Burnley on 12 January.
Leicester City is third with 31 points, while four teams have 29 points, including Manchester City, which also have two postponed games, and if they win, they can mathematically skip Liverpool.
At St Mary’s Stadium on the South Coast, Southampton finally settled their grueling contract by beating Liverpool with a goal from former late striker Danny Ings just two minutes later.
