The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s praise for outgoing President Donald Trump’s “hard line” policy toward Russia.
The Russian Foreign Ministry responded to Pompeo with a tweet on “Twitter”, which contained an image of “Napoleon withdrawing from Moscow.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry attached the image of the painting, which belongs to the pen of the 19th century German painter Adolf Norton, with the words: “Well done … strong men!”
Pompeo is reported to have said in his tweet yesterday Sunday that “there was no administration as tough on Russia as ours … No other words can be said … Look at the facts.”
It is noteworthy that the French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte and his huge army, defeated in Russia in 1812 and withdrew from it after heavy losses and the Russians refused to surrender, in the war known in Russia as the “national war”.
