Informed sources suggested that the fire and explosions witnessed by the border town of Al-Qasr were likely due to Israeli shelling, especially as they coincided with an intense, low-altitude flight by the Israeli enemy over various Lebanese areas.
Sources told MTV that the scene of the fire includes oil and gas tanks owned by a Lebanese from the Al-Obaid family, who is close to Hezbollah, and runs a fuel smuggling line from Lebanon to Syria.
Sources mentioned that Obeid, years ago, went from truck driver to wealthy owner, while dealing with various fuel companies in Lebanon, where he buys fuel from them, stores it and smuggles it to Syrian lands by various means.
The army command had reported that there had been an explosion in a warehouse used to store gas and diesel, owned by a person from the Obaid family, and was located in the Qusayr area on the Syrian side, completely far from the checkpoint. of the army in the area, and there were no casualties among the Lebanese army.
It was known that members of the civil defense began to deposit explosive fuel and gas tanks in the area, and three Red Cross teams went to rescue those wounded in the explosion.
The Red Cross announced that so far 7 injured and one person were missing, and that its teams are working to care for the injured and transport them to hospitals in the area.
While the general secretary of the Lebanese Red Cross, George Kittana, later confirmed to MTV that 10 people were injured in the explosion, 7 of them were taken to hospital and 3 were treated at the scene and the missing person was found.
At approximately 9 p.m., the civil defense teams managed to extinguish the fire caused by the explosion, which caused severe damage to the place, especially to vehicles and trucks.
