According to a security official, “members of the organization attacked an Iraqi army checkpoint in the Helwan area of ​​Jalawla city, northeast Diyala province, and clashed with the army, resulting in death. of two soldiers and injuring seven others, “indicating to Al-Arabi Al-Jadeed that” Several soldiers were seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. “

He noted that “a security force arrived at the accident area and was deployed there, to protect it from any other attack that might occur, while Iraqi helicopters flew overhead in search of the perpetrators.”

In addition, a deputy from the province called for “the direct intervention of Baghdad to establish security in Diyala”, warning of the withdrawal of the security file in the province.

Diyala Governorate Deputy Mudhar Al-Karawi said: “The attack represents a serious security breach that demands the urgent intervention of Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kazemi, directly,” he said in a statement to news agencies. local Iraqis, that “the repetition of security breaches in the district of the city of Helwan and Sheikh Baba In other areas of the governorate, Al-Kazemi must intervene urgently and with force.”

He stressed that “it is necessary to review the security situation in the province and greater support from the central government.”

Several areas of Diyala (a province bordering Iran) have been subjected to acts of violence that have increased in intensity in recent months, which have repeated scenes of snipers, assassinations and the detonation of explosive devices, amid confusion in the handling of their security file, and calls on the government to intervene and enforce security there.

ISIS elements continue their activities in the liberated provinces (Diyala, Kirkuk, Salah al-Din, Mosul and Anbar), despite the fact that security forces continue to carry out security operations to destroy the organization’s cells.
