The Palestinian presidency announced that Abbas “received a written message from the head of the Hamas political bureau, Ismail Haniyeh, which was relayed by the secretary of the Fatah Central Committee, Jibril Rajoub, and after reviewing the message, Abbas gave his directives to inform to Hamas of welcoming what was said in the letter about ending division, building partnerships and achieving unity. Through elections with full proportional representation, legislative, presidential and national council elections, respectively and interdependence, and his affirmation of Fatah’s commitment to the path of building alliances and national unity.
Abbas decided to invite Dr. Hanna Nasir, head of the Central Elections Committee, to meet with him to discuss the procedures that must be followed to issue electoral decrees in accordance with the law.
Abbas thanked Egypt, which is sponsoring the reconciliation file, and thanked fellow countries and friends, Qatar, Turkey, Russia and Jordan, who contributed, with their good efforts, to converge points of view and reach an agreement.
