The Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water announced this Wednesday in a statement that “the fair price of the rates for private electric generators for the month of December is as follows: 633 LBP for each kilowatt hour.
– For Meter Subscribers: 5 Amp Capacity: 20,000 LBP. + Monthly package x 633 LBP For every kilowatt hour.
– 10 Amp Capacity: 30,000 LBP. + Monthly package x 633 LBP For each kilowatt hour.
– 15 Amp Capacity: 40,000 LBP. + Monthly package X 633 LBP For each kilowatt hour.
5,000 LBP will be added. In the fixed part of the meter price for every additional 5 amps.
This rate is based on an average price of 20 liters of diesel fuel for the month of December, which is 17,129 LBP. And that’s after taking into account all the expenses, benefits and costs of the generators, as well as a good profit margin for their owners.
The ministry indicated that “this price was issued based on the mathematical table approved by the Ministry of Energy since October 14, 2010; And in compliance with Cabinet Resolution No. 2 issued on 12/14/2011 on taking the necessary measures to adjust the rate of private generators, and based on the announced inter-ministerial application mechanism (internal energy and economy) on 12/20/2011, which specified the responsibility of the Ministry of Energy and Circulating Water for the prices of private generators based on diesel prices at the end of each month.
The ministry said that “10% will be added to the approved price if the generator is located in a mountainous area or in small towns where the number of subscribers is small and the distribution networks are long.”
The ministry also announced that it had “sent books to the interior and economy ministries on the December 2020 prices to do what is required under the joint control mechanism.”
