Lebanon called on several Western countries with permanent membership in the Security Council to try to persuade Israel to avoid the almost daily violation of Lebanese airspace, in addition to the fact that this violation constitutes an inconvenience for the population both at night and during the day, and some fear that Israeli fighters may attack their areas. . The second request includes Israel preventing its fighters from using Lebanese airspace to launch attacks against Iranian military sites in Syria or Hezbollah sites scattered in Syrian regions.

Lebanese diplomats told Asharq Al-Awsat that Israel refused to stop the air violation of Lebanese airspace for two reasons: the first is to monitor shipments of weapons and ammunition by taking photos and bombarding the cargo before it reaches the depots. of ammunition in Lebanon. The other reason is that Tel Aviv uses Lebanese airspace to launch its attacks. On Iranian military targets or Hezbollah, because these airspaces are not detected by Syrian radar. More than one Western country mentioned that it cannot prevent Israel from launching attacks because it first vigorously rejects this response, just as the interests of these countries converge with Israel’s interest in rejecting the presence of Iranian militants and Hezbollah members in Syria.

Israel believes that the Lebanese authorities cannot prevent it from violating the atmosphere. Nor does Israel respond to the Security Council, which increasingly demands calm. Please note that at the end of August each year, the Council issues a decision to extend to UNIFIL, which includes a paragraph asking Lebanon and Israel to exercise restraint, and only lists air and ground violations that, according to Israel, they come from Lebanon, although most come from the Israeli enemy army. He says he is doing this to search for attackers who have launched operations from Lebanese territory.
