On Sunday, the plenipotentiary interior minister of the Libyan Government of National Accord, Fathi Bashagha, held a “high-level security meeting” with the Egyptian delegation that arrived in the capital, Tripoli.
In a statement, the Interior Ministry of the Government of National Accord confirmed that the meeting, which was held in the presence of the head of Al-Wefaq’s intelligence service, Imad Al-Trabelsi, addressed “common security challenges and ways of enhance security cooperation between the two sister countries. “
The ministry explained that the meeting discussed ways to support the ceasefire agreement in Libya and “the results of the 5 + 5 committee to support international efforts for political dialogue and to get out of the current crisis through political and peaceful means.”
The ministry pointed out that the meeting is framed “within the security policies of the Ministry of the Interior, which aims to consolidate cooperative relations with sister and friendly countries, and the importance of joint action between Cairo and Tripoli.”
The Egyptian delegation arrived in Tripoli a day after being visited by Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar.
