NBA legend KC Jones, an eight-time Pro League champion and four-time coach, has died at the age of 88.
In professional league history, he had no more titles than Jones in the playing period, except for fellow Boston “Celtics” Bill Russell and Sam Jones.
Jones is one of only seven players to achieve the “Triple Crown” by winning the Universiade League, American Professional League, and Olympic gold, and he joined the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1989.
Colleague Bill Russell tweeted: “I got a call informing me that my colleague and friend and legend KC Jones passed away this morning … We have been friends for almost 60 years and this is the last picture that brought us together. Friends forever.”
