Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Sameh Shoukry, several of the most urgent regional files, among which the crises in Libya and Syria stand out.
In a statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry affirmed that Lavrov and Shoukry, in a telephone conversation they held on Friday, “referred to the need to impart a comprehensive character to the national dialogue in Libya and affirmed the commitment of their countries to sovereignty and integrity. territorial territory of this country and the peaceful solution of the Libyan-Libyan conflict in accordance with the results of the Berlin Conference and the provisions of the resolution. ” UN Security Council No. 2510.
In the call, the two ministers also touched the Syrian dossier, noting the need to “guarantee the right of Syrians to self-determination in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2254.”
Lavrov and Shoukry also highlighted the need to intensify international efforts aimed at relaunching direct negotiations between Palestinians and Israelis with the aim of resolving all outstanding final status issues and establishing a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
The two ministers discussed the reality and prospects to strengthen multidirectional cooperation between Russia and Egypt in line with the Comprehensive Partnership and Strategic Cooperation Agreement concluded between the two countries in 2018.
In this regard, Lavrov and Shoukry paid particular attention to the implementation of large-scale projects in the field of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, including the construction of the Dabaa nuclear plant and the establishment of a Russian industrial zone in Egypt.
