He also warned “citizens who really need amounts of US dollars not to try to obtain them except at banks, legal banking shops and authorized money transfer companies, especially the families of Lebanese students abroad, who send dollars in cash to their children regularly with their friends and family. ” Because foreign financial institutions will refrain from accepting them, because they carry serial numbers that have been suspended, which exposes them to great losses or even legal liability for their source.
Bou Ghantous concluded by asking the security and information agencies to “prosecute all those who carry out illegal exchange activities, because they promote amounts of these dollars, and in most cases they do not know their main source.”
