The images included in a short video clip show the photos of Soleimani and the engineer hanging in two places within the main hall of the Iraqi parliament, the first in front of the podium where the Presidency of Parliament sits and the second on the walls opposite the podium.

These accounts claimed that the placement of the photos occurs as part of preparations to hold a memorial service, on Saturday, within the Iraqi parliament to mark the first anniversary of the assassination of Soleimani and the engineer.
There were no immediate comments from the Presidency of Parliament on the dissemination of these images and the fact that the commemorative ceremony took place.
The former commander of the Iranian Quds Force, Qassem Soleimani, was killed during an American airstrike near the Baghdad airport in the early hours of January 3, accompanied by the deputy of Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, who at the time was the head of the Iraqi People’s Mobilization Authority.
The United States viewed Soleimani as a threat to its national security and said the attack that targeted his two-car convoy near the Baghdad airport was not intended to kill the engineer and eight other people with him.
Soleimani’s death prompted the Iraqi parliament to ratify an official request to withdraw US forces deployed in the country, as part of an international coalition to fight ISIS.
