Several senior European officials were forced into quarantine after French President Emmanuel Macron was diagnosed with the Corona virus.

And among the officials who interacted with Macron at the European summit, which was organized in a practical format a week ago, were European Council President Charles Michel, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa, Prime Minister Belgian Alexandre de Croo and Luxembourg Prime Minister Xavier Petel. The secretary general of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Ángel Gurría, also went into quarantine, after Macron shook his hand last Monday, what the Elysee Palace later described as a “regrettable mistake.”

Meanwhile, German Prime Minister Angela Merkel’s office confirmed that she underwent a corona test days after the summit, and the results came back negative.

After announcing his injury, yesterday Thursday, the French president is subject to a 7-day quarantine, as he will practice his work remotely, according to the Elysee Palace.
