In a judicial development that accompanies the political judicial rams on the investigations and allegations in the case of the bomb attack in the port of Beirut, the judicial investigator, Judge Fadi Sawan, suspended the investigations in the file for a period of ten days, which is the legal period during which the judicial investigator must present his response to the request to cease the hand in the file presented by the two ministers. Former Ghazi Zuaiter and Ali Hassan Khalil were concerned about the legitimate suspicions and the appointment of another investigator.

As soon as the judicial investigator presents his response, the Public Ministry will proceed to review it in preparation for issuing an opinion. All parties to the case, from the Public Ministry of Cassation to the Judicial Investigator and the Bar Association, with their agency representing the aggrieved plaintiffs, will have an opinion on the matter.

Under this period, and while the Criminal Cassation Court chaired by Judge Jamal Al-Hajjar awaited the deliberation presented by the two ministers, Khalil and Zuaiter, Sawan dismissed the interrogation of the interim prime minister, Hassan Diab, which was scheduled for the Friday. The former Minister of Public Works Yusef Fenianos or his legal representative did not attend the judicial investigation department because there was no appointment for him, while the Director General of State Security, Division General Tony Saliba, attended with his legal representative, but was not heard and there was no confrontation between him and the detained Major Joseph Al-Naddaf.

The Bureau of Parliament had sent a letter to the judicial investigator informing him of the refusal to assist Zuaiter and Khalil in front of him, and the message read: “The Bureau of Parliament decided not to inform MPs Khalil and Zuaiter to appear before you as accused, and therefore not allow them to assist in this capacity in light of the immunity they enjoy, especially The cases in this case belong solely to the House of Representatives, based on the constitution, and their prior referral in this regard is not more than the recognition and confirmation on your part of the authority of parliament and the principle of separation of powers, repeating the request by your side that we must deposit the documents that were previously requested to make the timely decision regarding the prosecution of We accept of according to correct constitutional norms.

Sawan had set a new date for the questioning of deputies Zuaiter and Khalil in their capacity as former ministers on January 4, since the confrontation between the judiciary and the accused politicians and their sectarian protectorates could remain until then.

Meanwhile, a delegation of the families of the victims of the explosion visited the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities, Brigadier General Muhammad Fahmy, in the presence of the Governor of the City of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, and the President of the Municipal Council, Ing Jamal Itani.
