A Japanese court sentenced to death a man who killed 8 women and a man after communicating with them via Twitter.

The “BBC” website stated that Takahiro Shirachi, nicknamed “the Twitter killer”, had been arrested in 2017 after the remains of the bodies of his victims were found in his apartment.

The 30-year-old man confessed to killing and dismembering his victims, whom he met via “Twitter” and who were expressing their desire to commit suicide.

And local media reported that more than 400 people had attended the decision session, even though the hall only had 16 seats available to the public.

And Shirachi had used “Twitter” to lure into his home women who had the desire to commit suicide, telling them that he could help them die and, in some cases, claiming that he would commit suicide with the victim.

According to the indictment, the Japanese news agency Kyodo reported that Shirachi strangled and dismembered eight women and a man between the ages of 15 and 26 between August and October 2017.

A Japanese newspaper described the killer’s house in Zama, near Tokyo, as a “house of terror” after investigators found 9 severed heads and torn body parts hidden in refrigerators and tool boxes.

The prosecution has demanded that the death penalty be imposed on Shirachi, who confessed to killing and massacring his victims, but a defense attorney said the charge of “murder with consent” should be brought against his client, alleging that the victims they had consented to kill them.

But the judge who issued the verdict said that “none of the victims agreed to kill him,” noting that the full responsibility lies with the convicted person.
