The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces, Public Relations Division, issued the following communication:
Security forces thwarted the circulation of a large amount of counterfeit currency in Deir Al-Zahrani
“In the context of the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces that persecute and detain members of the gangs that promote counterfeiting of currency throughout Lebanon.
As a result of the orders given, the identity of one of the promoters has been identified, and it is called:
-s. P. (Born 2000, Palestinian)
On 12-12-2020, after a monitoring and surveillance process, one of the Division’s patrols managed to arrest him -with the flagrant crime of promoting counterfeit currency in US dollars in Deir Al Zahran- aboard a rented Kia Cerato car .
Searching him and the car, he found / $ 64,200 / fake, / 44,120,000 / Lebanese pounds, / $ 450 / authentic, and a military pistol.
Through his questioning he confessed to promoting the coin, and also admitted that he obtained the false amount seized from the Bekaa in exchange for the correct amount of $ 10,000 /, and that he intended to buy more for the exact amount in Lebanese pounds.
The legal requirement was taken against him and the seized assets were deposited with the competent authority, prior reference from the court.
