Days after the Gulf country officially registered the vaccine, the Chinese company “Sinopharm”, the UAE launched a vaccination campaign against the Corona virus in the capital, Abu Dhabi.

And the United Arab Emirates was one of the first countries in the world to launch a mass vaccination campaign. Last week, Britain launched its first vaccination campaign with the Pfizer / Bionic vaccine, while the United States prepares to launch its campaign on Monday.

And the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, which hosted the third phase of clinical trials for the vaccine, “Sinopharm,” announced the official registration of the vaccine last week. Abu Dhabi confirmed that preliminary results showed its effectiveness at 86%.

Last September, the United Arab Emirates legalized the emergency use of the vaccine for healthcare workers.

An employee of the Abu Dhabi Department of Health said by phone that residents can now book an appointment through the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company’s app “Seha” to receive the free vaccine at various centers in the capital.

According to the Emirati media, the vaccine is available in at least 45 health centers, including hospitals and clinics. The newspaper “Emirates Today” indicated that the centers will operate from eight in the morning until eight at night.

The “Sinopharm” vaccine consists of two doses, 21 days apart.

The United Arab Emirates has so far recorded more than 184,000 cases of the emerging coronavirus, including 617 deaths. Last month, the ruler of Dubai and the head of the government of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, received a dose of an experimental vaccine for the emerging corona virus.
