US President Donald Trump criticized the Supreme Court today (Saturday) for rejecting a lawsuit that he hoped would overturn President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election, according to the Reuters news agency.
Yesterday (Friday), the highest court in the country rejected a lawsuit filed by the state of Texas to cancel the election results in four states.
The decision is made before Monday’s Electoral College meeting to announce that Democrat Joe Biden officially wins the presidential election.
Trump, who is from the Republican Party, refuses to admit defeat, despite his loss to Biden, who garnered 306 votes in the electoral college, while only garnered 232 votes.
Trump said on Twitter on Saturday: “This is a great and shameful judicial error. The American people have been deceived and our country has been disgraced … The Supreme Court showed no interest in the largest electoral fraud in the United States of America “.
The court said Texas had no legal basis to immediately dismiss the lawsuit that Trump recently described as his best hope for overturning the election result.
The three justices Trump appointed to the Supreme Court, Neil Gorsach, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Cooney Barrett, signed the injunction without comment.
The president of the United States continues with accusations of widespread fraud without evidence even though he has lost dozens of cases in court.
Although he announced that he would leave the White House on January 20 if the electoral college confirms Biden’s victory, it is likely that Trump will continue to challenge the election and undermine the legitimacy of Biden’s presidency.
