Finn Valtteri Bottas spoke about the message sent to him by his Mercedes team manager Toto Wolf in the closing moments of the qualifying round for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final round of the 2020 Formula 1 season.
Qualifying session report: Verstappen surprises everyone at Yas Marina
As Bottas prepared to complete his last fast lap in qualifying at the Yas Marina circuit, he received a radio voicemail from Wolf, who said, ‘Come on Valtery, do your best.’
Bottas managed to move on and finish the qualifying session within 0.025 seconds of starting in first place, behind Red Bull driver Max Verstappen, and starting second in the closing races of the 2020 season.
This comes after Bottas came under great pressure last week after joining George Russell on Sakhir’s last tour in the absence of Lewis Hamilton.

He continued: “We are a team. We must constantly support each other.”
He added: “I feel like someone from the Mercedes team can be supported with words of encouragement, with messages of encouragement. This is possible.”
He continued: “It could be done with anyone in the Mercedes team, there is no more evidence. I think what happened was just a personal letter from Wolf to me offering support and encouragement. “
