The Anatolia state news agency reported on Friday that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that US sanctions on Turkey’s purchase of Russian defense systems do not contradict the partnership with NATO.

Erdogan said: “The use of the ‘Katsa’ law by the United States against Turkey is an insult to a major NATO partner.
Anadolu Agency quoted Erdogan as saying that Turkey would be patient and see the direction that will emerge after the new US administration takes office next month.
He added that “we will see better the new trends in the United States after the transfer of power, and we will wait before evaluating things.”
Washington is preparing to impose sanctions on Turkey, under the “Law against the enemies of the United States”, known as “Katsa”, which was approved in 2017, and under this law, the president of the United States has Right to choose 5 sanctions out of 12, to impose them on Pavo.
Reuters previously reported that Washington may announce at any time the imposition of new sanctions that are expected to target Turkey’s Defense Industries Corporation and its director, Ismail Demir.
