Turkey’s Foreign Ministry condemned the interception of one of its ships in the Mediterranean by Libyan forces stationed in eastern Libya, saying it should be allowed to resume its journey to western Libya, warning of the possibility of retaliation. .
“Targeting Turkish interests in Libya will have dire consequences, and these elements targeting Turkish interests will be considered legitimate targets,” he said in a statement.
The commander of the Marine Combat Company in Susa, Colonel Muhammad Al-Majdoub, confirmed in exclusive statements to RT that a ship carrying the Jamaican flag was seized from Turkey to Misurata.
He said: “In compliance with the instructions of the General Command of the Armed Forces in monitoring the Libyan coasts and restricted areas, the company managed to control the Jamaican-flagged ship from Turkey.”
He added: “The ship was towed to the Susa seaport after it entered the restricted area in eastern Libya and did not respond to calls from naval forces.”
He continued: “The ship is registered and its crew, which consists of 17 sailors, 9 of whom have Turkish nationality, are being investigated.”
Al-Majdoub indicated that “the naval forces continue to monitor the Libyan coast to arrest the rapists.”
