Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the restoration of Azerbaijan deserves the “Karabakh” region. On Saturday, Erdogan witnessed the opening ceremony of a road in the state of Kars (northeast), through a video call from the Vahiddin Palace in Istanbul.

In his speech, Erdogan referred to the recent military operation in Karabakh and said: “Restoring Karabakh is a deserved victory for Azerbaijan according to international law and the diplomatic and military fields.” He stressed that Azerbaijan did not intervene on anyone’s land and did not attack anyone, but liberated its lands occupied for 30 years, despite the decisions of the United Nations and the OSCE.

Erdzgan added that Azerbaijan liberated its lands within the framework of legitimacy and did not target civilians and civilian-populated areas as Armenia did when it occupied Azerbaijani lands 30 years ago. He explained that Turkey rushed to provide relief to its Azerbaijani brothers with all its capabilities when Armenia launched an attack on Azerbaijani lands. He indicated that Turkey contributed to the liberation of “Karabakh” and the Azerbaijani lands, in accordance with the common history, culture, beliefs and language between the two countries.

And Erdogan added that “with the opening of a corridor between Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan (according to the armistice agreement between Baku and Yerevan), we will have a direct overland link with our brothers (in Azerbaijan).” Erdogan also commented on the ratification by the French Parliament on Thursday of a resolution calling for recognition of the so-called “Karabakh Republic”. “The decision taken by the French Parliament, the co-chairman of the Minsk Group, goes beyond scandal, as it is a real disaster,” he said. He stressed that the Karabakh region is an Azerbaijani land and denounced the flagrant French attack on the sovereignty of Azerbaijan.

Erdogan expressed his hope that international public opinion will confront the dangerous French approach to the Azerbaijani region of Karabakh. He stressed that Europe, due to its current political unity in a very bloody and dark period of struggle, will suffer more than others as a result of the distortion of the facts by France at the level of the Karabakh region. On Thursday, the French National Assembly passed a resolution urging the Paris government to recognize the so-called “Karabakh Republic”, a week after the Senate approved the same bill.

In the fall, the region witnessed a fierce war in which Azerbaijan achieved great victories on the ground at the expense of Armenia. Since 1992, Armenia has occupied about 20% of Azerbaijan’s land, which includes the “Karabakh” region (consisting of 5 provinces) and 5 other provinces in the west of the country, in addition to much of the “Karabakh” provinces. Aghdam “and” Fuzuli “. According to the United Nations, the Karabakh region (which was occupied by Armenia) is considered part of the Azerbaijani lands. As a member of the “Minsk Group” of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, France is criticized for its lack of neutrality and its support for Armenia in the conflict in the region.
