central bank

The Central Bank of Lebanon has set the dollar exchange rate at 1507.5 pounds and this price applies only to imports of fuel, medicine and wheat.

Banks

Banks set the price at £ 3,850 per dollar when withdrawing dollars from small depositors.

Currency exchange

The Union of Money Changers in Lebanon confirmed the price of the dollar exchange rate against the Lebanese pound with a variable margin between the price of 3850 pounds for the purchase and 3900 pounds for the sale, maximum.

Black dollar

At a time when the Lebanese suffer restrictions and strict banking procedures that prevent them from getting their money from banks, especially in dollars, Hezbollah once again confirms that it is a mini-state within a state, attacking at the expense of Lebanese laws. and imposing its policy on its environment.

A few days ago, Hezbollah openly established mechanisms to withdraw funds on behalf of the “Al-Qard Al-Hassan Association”, in its stronghold in the southern suburbs of Beirut, so that those who dealt with the “good loan” and their workers could obtain funds in US dollars.

Forensic audit

The Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, announced that he would hand over the state accounts in preparation for criminal scrutiny, refusing to accuse him of collusion with Hezbollah.

The governor of the Banque du Liban claimed that people’s deposits are still present in the banks and that no one will touch them. He said: “We are with the criminal audit and we have handed over our accounts as a central bank to the Ministry of Finance, and we will comply and present the state accounts to the Ministry of Finance and our accounts are monitored.”

Salameh’s charge arises after he refused to deliver these accounts under the pretext of the Monetary and Credit Law, which caused the withdrawal of Alvarez & Marsal from its mission. Today, the Ministry of Finance returns and sends him a letter to submit all the accounts of the public administration to forensic accounting audit.

French support

The jump in the dollar comes despite promises made yesterday Wednesday by French President Emmanuel Macron that his country will contribute to a financing fund that will be established to help Lebanon, but that it will not replace the obligations of some countries towards the country.

Macron added, during his speech at the opening of the Lebanon Support Conference, that France will spare no effort to help Lebanon, but it is necessary to complete investigations into the circumstances and consequences of the Beirut port explosion, and implement fundamental reforms. .

The French president made it clear that Lebanon is sinking further into its crisis and duty compels us to help it and respond to its real needs. Macron confirmed that he will return to Lebanon in December to pressure the political class.

Macron called on Lebanese politicians to quickly form a new government to implement reforms, otherwise Lebanon will not receive international aid.

The conference comes four months after an explosion destroyed the port of Beirut and much of the capital.
