The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, received this Wednesday in his office of the Emiri Diwan, the adviser and son-in-law of the President of the United States, Jared Kushner.

The Qatar News Agency (QNA) said that during the meeting it carried out “a review of the strategic cooperative relations between the State of Qatar and the friendly United States, as well as regional and international affairs, especially developments in the region”.

“Al-Jazeera Net” quoted Gulf sources as saying that the next few hours may witness a breakthrough in the Gulf crisis, referring to an active movement and talks that are taking place in the meantime, which may lead to important results.

Jared Kushner came to the region in a final effort to resolve the crisis of the Qatar blockade that began about 3 years ago. Official sources of the US administration mentioned news agencies; His tour will include meetings with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammed bin Salman and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The “Wall Street Journal” quoted US officials as saying that the main focus of the talks will be to resolve the dispute over the flight of Qatari planes over Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The US website “Axios” said on Sunday that Kushner and the US administration have a final achievement before the date of handover of power to President-elect Joe Biden, adding that resolving the dispute between Riyadh and Doha would restore a kind of stability in the Gulf region.

Kuwait is making efforts to mediate between the two sides in the crisis, but has not yet been able to make a breakthrough to restore the situation to what it was between the six Gulf Cooperation Council states.
