Today, Wednesday night, the forty-second session of the “Cairo International Film Festival” will begin, which will continue until December 10. This year, the event includes 84 films from 43 countries. Given the exceptional circumstances that the world is going through in the face of the Corona pandemic, the programming of the ancient Egyptian festival has been shortened, according to the above, and confirmed by its director, producer and screenwriter, Mohamed Hefzy.

The official competition includes 15 films, including three Egyptian films: “Curfew” directed by Amir Ramses, “Anah” by Islam Al-Azazi and the documentary “Long Live Captain” by Mai Zayed.
Inaugurated, it will be tonight at 9:00 p.m. time in Beirut and Cairo with the film The Father, directed by French Florian Zeller, and starring the Welshman Sir Anthony Hopkins and the British Olivia Coleman.
Performances are held in theaters large and small and in the open theater at the “Opera House” and the “Hanager Center for Arts”, in addition to the “Zamalek Cinema”.
In terms of honors, Egyptian screenwriter Waheed Hamed and British writer Christopher Hampton will share the Golden Pyramid Appreciation Award, while Egyptian actress Mona Zaki will receive the Golden Pyramid Award for Excellence. The festival also commemorates the centenary of the birth of the late Italian master Federico Fellini (1920-1993), with the screening of four restored films from his archive and his latest recording, entitled “The Souls of Fellini” by Selma D’Loleo.
Parallel to the official program, the “Cairo Film Industry Days” will be held, including workshops, lectures and panel discussions for leading filmmakers and filmmakers.
