We would like to point out that the reservation of the Palestinian Museum, which recorded, in a part of the article “Bashar Shamout Gathering the Diaspora of the Palestina Memory” does not occur at all in the context of the objection to the author’s freedom of criticism, but rather to the false information posted without verification, and the extraction of information by the author of Bashar Shamout and putting it out of context in the article, which is a professional error.
Here are some clarifications on Mona Soukaria’s latest answer:
– The writer says, according to Bashar Shamout, “There are no funds in the museum”, and adds a phrase of her own, “except the image of Mahmoud Abbas opening the museum in his capacity as president!” The fallacy here is that it claims that the image of President Abbas is part of the museum’s funds, and this is incorrect. The photo is in Shamout’s book, and it is a press photo of the official opening of the museum, and does not exist as “collectibles” in the museum.
– The museum read a clear accusation by the author of collusion and coordination with the Israeli enemy, when at the end he explicitly stated: “What leads us to question is not about the role of the Zionist in looting the Palestinian heritage to erase the memory of his people, but who coordinates with him to erase the erasure, and our argument is that after the creation of the Palestinian Museum of Memory on a hill in the vicinity of Birzeit University in the West Bank, in an area of forty thousand meters square footage, and the museum’s total construction cost amounted to around $ 24 million, “out of stock or exhibits so far” (p. 28), “which we consider unprofessional, especially since the author apparently did not research the museum and his work before making this explicit accusation.
– The author cites another accusation and a new fallacy by saying: “With all due respect to Dr. Al-Aidi’s efforts in listing the Palestinian Museum properties, but I hope they include the lists of names of Palestinian prisoners in the prisons of the enemy and martyrs during the course of this catastrophe. ” We add here to the author’s information that Dr. Adel Al-Aidi-Haniyeh, more than 20 years ago, during his presidency, the Khalil Sakakini Cultural Center organized the exhibition “100 martyrs 100 lives”, which was also shown in Beirut in 2002, and the museum is proud of the presence in its archive of archives of the Palestinian national movement, martyrs and captive movement Digital, available to the public and presented in Arabic and English.
– Finally, the presence of the Palestinian Museum in an occupied country and in exceptional circumstances that make it difficult to acquire collections, does not mean that the museum is subject to the status quo. Rather, the museum started to build this collection years ago and of course seeks to strengthen its cooperation with international organizations such as the International Council of Museums – Acom. Groups, and we don’t know if there is a problem with the museum in its quest for international protection!
