Protests in French cities on Saturday against the “comprehensive security” bill resulted in the injuries of 62 police officers, while more than 80 protesters were arrested.
On Sunday, local media said 23 policemen were injured during protests in Paris, while another 39 were injured in other cities.
Videos were circulated on social media Saturday night showing groups of protesters beating up elements of the French gendarmerie.
At the same time, the Interior Ministry said that the protesters filed a complaint with the General Police Directorate, about the use of violence by the gendarmerie against the protesters.
Yesterday, Saturday, the French cities were witnesses of massive demonstrations denouncing the law of “integral security”, before the crisis of a new case of violence on the part of some policemen.
Article 24 of the aforementioned law, which focuses on attention, establishes a penalty of one year in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros, in case of publication of images or retransmission of clips of policemen and gendarmes motivated by “bad faith” .
The protesters are also protesting the legalization of the use of drones and surveillance cameras by security forces.
The organizers of the protest movements consider that this law violates freedoms at a time when there are many complaints about the use of violence by police forces against protesters.
