Nabih Berri said, during his Council session in response to a letter from President Michel Aoun, that “the accounts of the Banque du Liban, the ministries, independent departments, councils, financial institutions, municipalities and all funds in parallel will be subject to criminal scrutiny without any hindrance or invoking bank secrecy or otherwise. “
Ghazi Wazni, Lebanese Finance Minister, informed President Michel Aoun, last Friday, that he had received a letter from the company “Álvarez y Misal” to terminate the agreement signed with the Ministry of Finance for the forensic accounting audit of the accounts of the Central Bank of Lebanon.
Wazni explained at the time that the company justified its apology for not obtaining the information and documents required to begin carrying out its mission, and its lack of certainty of reaching such information even if it was given an additional three months. to deliver the documents required for the criminal audit in the accounts of the Banque du Liban.
The Lebanese president, Michel Aoun, said, last Saturday, that he was informed yesterday of the regrettable decision of the forensic auditing company Alvarez and to send Alvarez & Marsal to withdraw from the mission that was entrusted to him, due to the fact that the Banque du Liban did not provide him with the information and documents that he requires in order to carry out his work in accordance with approved international standards. .
He continued: “The least that is said in these circumstances is that it is a regression to the logic of establishing the State, disclosure, accountability, accountability and transparency. The criminal audit is the entry point of any reform, because it is capable of discovering the sources of corruption and waste, and explaining the causes of the current collapse and those responsible. “
This comes in conjunction with the suspension of the Association of Banks in Lebanon, yesterday, on the decision of the sole civil judge of New York on the relationship of the accounts in the Lebanese banks with the “Bartlett” case.
Yesterday Thursday, the Lebanese Association of Banks announced that the Sole Civil Judge in the state of New York issued a preliminary decision on the lawsuit of some of the heirs of the US military victims who were killed or injured in Iraq in the case known as ” Bartlett “, in which they assured that several of the twelve Lebanese bank clients The defendant helped Hezbollah financially through their accounts in these banks, and that the party contributed to the losses or damages suffered by the plaintiff, always in accordance with the plaintiff’s claims.
