Security forces clarify the truth about what happened with one of the trained lawyers (video)

The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following communication:

After the dissemination of videos on social networks and the media in which members of the Internal Security Forces seem to chain up a trained lawyer, and the subsequent reactions poorly considered, it is important that the General Directorate clarifies the following:

First: The prestige of the internal security forces is one of the prestige of the Homeland, and whoever does not respect it in the fulfillment of their duty to apply the law, then offends the country and the law.

Second: The members of the institution work intensely and continuously, without tirelessness, throughout the Lebanese territory to ensure the safety of citizens and protect their property, especially in these difficult times that the country is going through, and therefore the role of the Element is the true embodiment of security.

Third: when the member of the Internal Security Forces fulfills his functions, he implements the law that no one has supremacy over him and all immunities, no matter how high, are lost, so whoever opposes the work must be prosecuted of the Internal Security Forces.

Fourth: The lawyer in practice, subject of the circulating video, did not comply with the decision issued by the Minister of the Interior and Municipalities regarding the “singular and permissible” clause -especially because the lawyers do not apply any exceptions to those indicated in the decision – and when he arrived at the checkpoint he objected to the organization of a report. His right to violate this decision – knowing that he was not obliged to wear a muzzle despite the presence of another person in the car that accompanied him – to then get out of his car and attack the traffic element with insults and insults, which caused a verbal altercation between them, and then the trained attorney struck and pushed the officer back by force. He takes a step back, and one of the passing vehicles almost runs him over – it is shown in the attached video, which we make available to the public – and soon he returned to his car, then the officer insisted on clearing the papers from the vehicle, after he refused to do so, and a seizure report was organized against him for the violation of non-transfer. Vehicle driver’s license, which requires detention. And when he refused to obey and objected to moving it with a tow truck and getting out of the car – after asking him several times and with respect, as one of the clips that some tried to delete from the video that was published on social networks – he showed that the Officers were forced to forcibly remove him from the car and handcuff him despite his constant reluctance to chain and insult them.

Fifth: This method of chaining adopted by the elements is legal and correct, since it was the result of the resistance of security men, and it is adopted in all countries when someone tries to attack security men or refuses to comply. . Upon the arrival of the trained attorney to the platoon, his handcuffs were removed and he was received in a decent manner in the office of one of the platoon’s officers, pending an investigation.

Sixth: Al-Hariri, a trained lawyer, with sufficient knowledge of the laws, regulations and decisions, had to receive the report of the seizure and object to the competent judicial authorities or lodge a complaint for any behavior that he considered unfair to him, since Every citizen has the right according to the law. However, the interested prosecutor preferred to adopt the confrontation and violate the law, exposing the elements that fulfill their duty to protect citizens, for which we had to subject him to an investigation under the supervision of the competent Judicial Power, but this did not It has happened and everyone knows why and we will not increase today.

Seventh: The president of the Bar Association, in particular, knows and is aware of the extent of the cooperation of the internal security forces with the lawyers in terms of fully responding to everything they asked for when they were sent by the Union to confront the detained in all cases of previous arrests.

The General Directorate of the Security Forces has always affirmed its commitment to human rights and their defense. He will always be willing to implement the laws and regulations in force, and will remind the public that his elements will be aware of anyone who wants to threaten their safety and health, and asks them not to be carried away by rumors, false news or images and videos that show the truth or part of it, and that obtain correct information from their source.
