The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the new airstrikes targeted the sites of pro-Iranian militias in Albu Kamal camp, east of Deir Ezzor.
Unidentified planes, which according to the Observatory were Israeli, attacked in the early hours of Thursday the sites and positions of the militia of the “Zainabiyoun Brigade” in the two provinces of Al-Jalaa and Al-Hamdan, west of the city of Albu Kamal, in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
The attacks resulted in human and material losses, as 19 militiamen were killed, including two leaders of the groups, and the death toll due to injuries, some of them in serious condition, is expected to rise, in addition to information on other deaths. , and the bombardment caused the destruction of sites and vehicles.
On November 22, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights documented human losses as a result of air strikes by planes, probably Israeli, against positions of pro-Iranian militias, in the Albu Kamal camp, east of Deir Ezzor.
In recent days, Israeli bombardment of Iranian targets in Syria has been repeated, most recently last Saturday, killing 14 militants loyal to Iran, most of them Iraqis, in eastern Syria.
The official Israeli television channel “Kan” cited Israeli sources that the occupation army is taking advantage of the presence of US President Donald Trump in power to intensify raids against the Iranian presence in Syria.
The channel said in a report that the military establishment in Tel Aviv is based on the assumption that Iran, which fears the possibility that Trump will hit it before his term ends on January 20, will be careful not to give him a justification for that, which will make it absorb the attacks. Israel is fighting its presence in Syria; Which represents an opportunity for Tel Aviv to intensify these attacks.
Ra’i Sharon, a military correspondent for the channel, said that the Israeli army ensured that during raids launched on Saturday, which targeted southern Damascus and the Syrian Golan, Hezbollah militants were not killed, despite that party sites were targeted in the attacks.
He added that the identities of those killed in these raids, who were not among them a Hezbollah member, indicate that Israel is unwilling to provide the opportunity for an escalation with the party. He added that Israel takes into account the “equation” imposed by Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, which is the party’s commitment to respond to the murder of any of its members in Syria by targeting Israel.
He said Israel is not interested in returning to the period of tension that prevailed over the past few months with Hezbollah, during which its army was forced to mobilize on the northern border for a long time.
