Only five countries, in addition to the European Union, will be able to vaccinate around 100 percent of their population against the emerging corona virus, if the final license is granted for three vaccines that have declared their clinical trials successful, according to the Census Center of USA

“The six countries are the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and Chile, in addition to the European Union,” said the Center for Statistics at Duke University in North Carolina.

The center added that “these countries have already submitted advance applications for millions of doses of vaccines developed by Moderna and Pfizer and the AstraZeneca vaccine with the University of Oxford.”

According to statistics from the American Center, the total doses requested by these countries reached 2.8 billion doses.

Duke’s research group classifies five of these countries and the European Union, which can vaccinate their entire population, as rich or middle-income.

And the Pfizer and Biontech Alliance announced that “the effectiveness of its vaccine against the Corona virus reaches 95 percent”, while Moderna stated that “the effectiveness of its vaccine reached 94.5 percent.”

After Moderna and the Pfizer / Biontech Alliance, the British laboratory AstraZeneca, in collaboration with the University of Oxford, announced the development of a vaccine that is 70 percent effective on average, and even 90 percent in some cases.

The vaccination campaign, which initially includes healthcare workers and people at increased risk, is supposed to begin in mid-December in the United States and early 2021 in Europe, with intensified efforts to produce vaccines and work to prepare and authorize other forms of the vaccine that are being prepared by other laboratories.

Of the 48 vaccines currently being developed around the world, only 11 entered the third and final phase of testing, before gaining approval from authorities, according to the World Health Organization.

The epidemic has killed 1.4 million people in the world since the WHO office in China reported its appearance in late December 2019.
