The Brazilian police announced the arrest of a Brazilian citizen of Lebanese origin, called “Asaad Khalil Kiwan”, in the city of São Paulo, as part of cases related to drug trafficking and money laundering, indicating that it is one of the 66 most important wanted persons in the country.

The police also indicated that the arrest of “Kiwan” took place in a major security operation, in which the police and anti-drug agencies participated, explaining that he was involved with a criminal organization active in smuggling to Europe through Brazilian ports. .

It should be noted that international intelligence reports had previously accused the Lebanese militia of Harb Allah, an ally of the Free Patriotic Movement, of participating in drug trafficking and smuggling operations in Latin America and Europe.

In the same context, the Police explained that the security operation aims to arrest dozens of people wanted for drug cases in a Brazilian state, noting that so far they have managed to confiscate 50 tons of cocaine with the detainees, as well as confiscate 400 million Brazilian rials, equivalent to 75 million dollars.

“Kiwan”, from the town of Kafrnis in the Chouf district, was expelled by Paraguay in 2009 for his involvement in an assassination attempt on a senator.
