The Lebanese judiciary leads the charge of intentional homicide in a legitimate self-defense case against the artist’s husband, Nancy Ajram

Beirut: The Lebanese judiciary on Tuesday charged Fadi Al-Hashem, husband of artist Nancy Ajram, with intentional murder in a legitimate self-defense case, in the context of the murder of a masked man who broke into his home in the area from Kesrouan north of Beirut with the aim of robbery earlier this year and threatened to kill him and his family.

Mount Lebanon investigating judge Nicolas Mansour issued a formal indictment accusing Al-Hashem of killing Syrian Muhammad Al-Musa with 18 bullets from a military pistol inside his home on Mount Lebanon.

Judge Mansour considered that Al-Hashem’s actions apply to the crime of intentional homicide stipulated in article 547 of the Penal Code, which provides for forced labor for up to 20 years, but the investigating judge favored this crime over article 228 of the Penal Code , which exempts the author from punishment if the crime occurs in the context of legitimate defense.

Judge Mansour Al-Hashem referred to the Mount Lebanon Criminal Court for trial.

Moussa had infiltrated the artist Ajram’s villa in New Suhaila, about 20 kilometers north of Beirut, on the night of January 4-5, while masked and armed with a pistol.

Musa came to the bedroom of Al-Hashem’s three sons and threatened to kill him and his family if he did not lead him to the treasure trove of money and jewels. Al-Hashem rushed to bring his pistol and shot the attacker, killing him with 18 shots.

Judge Mansour indicated on the merits of his indictment that “Al-Hashem’s exaggeration in firing this number of bullets at the corpse expresses that he has exhausted all means of self-defense, and it seems that it is the result of a revolution of anger and fear in his wife and children. “

Al-Hashem was arrested shortly after the accident to comply with legal requirements, but was released after two days and was left under investigation and banned from traveling.
