The announcement of the targeting operation came a day after the Kingdom hosted the G20 virtual summit, and more than a year after targeting the Aramco facility in the east of the Kingdom in an unprecedented process that caused unrest. in the world oil market.

The spokesman for the Houthi military wing, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said in a statement published by the official news agency that “the missile force targeted the Aramco distribution station in the city of Jeddah with a winged missile, Quds 2, which finally entered service after successful tests in the Saudi depth that have yet to be announced. “

The city of Jeddah, overlooking the Red Sea, is about 600 km from the nearest border point with Yemen.

The spokesperson added: “The injury was very accurate and ambulances and firefighting vehicles rushed to the target location.”

Aramco, in response to Agence France-Presse’s request for comment, said it would respond to questions “as soon as possible.” Authorities neither confirmed nor denied the incident.

For its part, “Tanker Trackers”, which tracks oil tankers, said, citing the platform “Planet Labs” for the publication of satellite images, that a slight fire had already broken out in a fuel tank at the site, but that quickly extinguished.

The Houthis, who control large areas in northern Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia, have stepped up their attacks on the kingdom since early 2019, using ballistic missiles and drones.
