Elon Musk, “SpaceX” president for aerospace industries, revealed a surprise about the beginning of his career and what prompted him to take an interest in programming to get to what he is today as one of the richest people in the world.

Ink magazine reports on its website that Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, spoke about his love of video games and how he started his career at a video game conference.

His love for video games helped him transform it into programming that opened the doors to his success.

Musk is the founder of three companies that work in the areas of electric car construction, colonization of Mars and traffic tunnels in urban areas.

The site noted that Musk became the world’s third-richest person this week, surpassing Mark Zuckerberg.

Musk described video games as “incredibly attractive. It made me want to learn how to program computers. I thought I could program my own games.”

Musk acquired a computer at a young age and learned “Basic,” an older programming language, on his own.

And at the age of 12, after mastering Basic, Musk sold his Blastar PC game code to Computer magazine for $ 500.

Eleven years later, he said, he and his brother launched Zip2, an app that provided a city map service to newspaper makers.

Later, Musk and his brother sold the company to Compaq for $ 307 million. Musk says he’s the one who oversaw most of Zip2’s encoding.

The “SpaceX” group that Musk founded had completed a preliminary mission from May to August during which he transported two astronauts to the space station and then returned them to Earth without a hitch.
