League City, Texas: Jack, the manager of a restaurant, was stabbed by a customer who refused to wear a mask, police said.

“This is a very polar situation,” said League City Police Chief Gary Ratliff. “Where some people believe there shouldn’t be a mask and others don’t.”

James Schulz, 53, entered the restaurant without a face mask Wednesday night, according to police. It was requested to wear or use drive thru to serve.

Rutliff said, and the customer “boldly refused”, and accused the rest restaurant rent staff of not wanting to serve him because he was homeless.

Schulz then walked to the door, and as the manager chased him, he allegedly ran after the manager, confronted him and, according to Ratliff, repeatedly attacked him on the arm and upper torso with what was a pocketknife.

Several co-workers rushed to the manager’s aid and Schulz escaped from the rest of the runt on a bicycle. The manager was rushed to an area hospital with three stab wounds, was treated and released.

Police are still searching for Schulz and describe him as living in the area.

Ratliff said people should respect the mask policies of local industries.

“Many of these people have had some of these incidents happen, I don’t know this manager, but have had personal incidents with loved ones who have died and died as a result of covid, as are some of our officers,” Ratliff said. “All I can say is that people respect the views and policies of these businesses.”

“You can refuse to do business in those places or whatever you choose to do, but there is no reason to resort to aggressive behavior,” he added.
