The cast and crew of “Le Reve” in Wynn Las Vegas have been informed that the show will close permanently. Director Wynn Entertainment Rick Gray informed the cast and crew during a digital conference meeting Friday afternoon.
About 275 artists, musicians, technicians and ushers in the “Le Reve” team are out of work.
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent physical distance requirements for which an end date cannot be predicted but are necessary to keep our guests safe, we are forced to present the award-winning performance ‘Le Reve – The Dream of ‘closing’ in Wynn Las Vegas, ‘the company said Friday in a statement.
The company also noted that “Le Reve” has performed more than 6,000 shows since its launch in 2005. It was an industry favorite and, after being voted best production show in Las Vegas nine times, a record by the Southern Nevada Concierge Association.
Made by Franco Dragone, who had just left Cirque du Soleil, opened the aquatic spectacular 15 years ago, along with the hotel. It was a rare Vegas production that became wholly owned by their host resort, and the cast and crew were employees of the hotel.
Those employees were received on May 29, with benefits extended to August 31. Those benefits are still set on time on this date.
After all, there are no plans for the famed Le Reve Theater, specifically designed for the show. The production had been held together under the hope that theater association would open this fall.
