Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James believes the NFL still needs to issue a formal apology to Colin Kaepernick.

Speaking to Bloomberg BusinessweekJason Kelly, James acknowledged that the NFL is doing a better job of listening to its black players, but that the league should apologize directly to Kaepernick (starting at 1:47):

Goodell published a video statement on June 5 in response to a multiplayer video demanding the league recognize Black Lives Matter and “condemn racism and the systematic oppression of blacks. “

Goodell responded to those requests and acknowledged that the league was “Too bad for not listening to NFL players earlier and encouraging everyone to speak up and protest peacefully. “

Colin Kaepernick’s name was not mentioned in the video, though Goodell told ESPN. Mike Greenberg on June 15 “would encourage” a team to sign Kaepernick “if you want to resume your NFL career. “

Kaepernick began the movement of NFL players who knelt to protest during the national anthem during the 2016 season.

Since canceling his contract with the San Francisco 49ers in March 2017, Kaepernick has not been signed as a free agent.
