After Cody Bellinger and Joachim Pedersen’s singles, Barnes took safety and accelerated the first baseman G-Man Choi, the first RBI boot in the series from Reese Jason Barrett in Game 2 in 2008 and then the Dodgers from Billy Cox in 1953 for the first time.
Mookie Bates followed RBI’s two-out single to make it 5-0, and Barnes returned to John Na Curtis in sixth. The Dodgers scored five of their first six runs with two outs, nine of their nine in the series and 50 of 87 in the postseason.
“Obviously there are two outs, but you still can’t give up the bat,” Bates said. “That’s the way you can win the World Series.”
