Kristen Doute speaks in first interview since Vanderpump rules dismissal

When asked about the biggest lesson he learned, Doute said he found he has “a lot to learn.”

“I think I thought I understood racism, but now I’m really learning about unconscious bias, learning about anti-racism, learning how we can do things locally to really make changes, and, you know, put your local community to work to make those changes. I think it is very important for everyone, “he said. “So those are just a few of the things that I started to learn about and use the power of my voice and again I really heard listening and talking to all my Black friends, asking their opinions, and going to protests, and kneeling and looking TED Talks, and thank goodness for social media, when I jump again when I’m not going crazy, and all the resources people share I think are so important. “

Then she said she doesn’t “think many people,” including herself, “realized that there were those resources to help” drive change.

“It’s very easy to say, ‘Put on the job’ and then go, ‘I want to put on the job, but what does the job look like? What do I do?'” He said. “Those resources are available to you. You just have to spend time reading, listening, and learning.”

Doute then added: “I would lie if I said that it is not difficult to lose my job and I essentially lose everything I had worked for. I would totally lie and it would bother me if you guys just said, ‘Oh no, I know I’m bigger than that and blah blah Blah. It was really hard, but again, like, the world is bigger than me. I can do better; I can be better; I can earn people’s respect by showing, by action. “
