Krispy Kreme’s Times Square flagship store opens in September with a donut-glazed waterfall

Krispy Kreme puts a date on the calendar for his new flagship store Times Square

After months of endurance, Krispy Kreme has finally put a date on the calendar for the opening of her sprawling Times Square flagship store. On September 15, the new store – located at 1601 Broadway, on West 48th Street – will be the switch on the brightest light in the world, the company’s signal that fresh donuts are ready to eat. Unlike the other outposts of the donut chain, the Times Square location has many bells and whistles, including a glass waterfall and a production line capable of making about 400 tens of donuts per hour. There will also be a 24-hour walk-up window, where customers can order boxes of donuts for takeout.

Despite the tourist number still located in New York City, Krispy Kreme expects the new flagship store to be the busiest location of the chain among its roughly 1,400 stores internationally. The Krispy Kreme of 48th Street was originally scheduled to open in May, though the new coronavirus pandemic delayed those plans. Earlier this year, the donut chain quietly opened four additional stores in New York City and now has locations in Harlem, the Bronx, Midtown, the Financial District, and within Penn Station. By the end of the year, Krispy Kreme plans to have eight locations in New York City, according to a spokesman for the restaurant, with stores previously planned for the Upper West Side.
