Professor Kyung-Shim Jeong (58), Dongyang University, was released on the 10th at 0 o’clock. It has been 200 days since I was arrested on October 24 of last year on charges related to entrance exam funds and private equity funds.
Bow to supporters
At 0:05, Professor Chung, wearing a white mask, wore a gray jacket and bowed to supporters after leaving the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi-do. He then left the detention center in a silver sedan vehicle waiting outside. They did not respond to questions from journalists, such as “How do you feel?”, “What do you think of the prosecution’s claim that there is a risk of death?”
Professor Jung’s ‘Gat Gat-gil’ was loud as a welcome message from the citizens who welcomed liberation. Around 10 p.m. this day, about 100 supporters wearing raincoats in rainy weather waited outside the Seoul Detention Center. Supporters shouted, “I love you, Kyung-Shim Jeong,” “I love you,” or chanted “A March for Immigration.” ‘Professor Chung, Kyung-Shim has held up well. Supporters who came with a picket saying “I will be with you to the end” were everywhere.
Professor Jeong’s release time was imminent, and protests and some opposition parties were in conflict. Professor Chung’s supporters raised the newsroom by confronting protesters who shouted, “Redeem the canonical mind,” holding out a banner that says “Shameful Homeland.”
You will be tried in a state of disability.
Professor Chung was arrested on October 24 of last year, and on November 11, he was charged with 14 charges, including the charge of a child entry fee and corruption of private capital. The court was later released at the end of the arrest period as it decided not to issue an additional order. After being released, Professor Chung was able to exercise his defensive power more actively when he was tried at the first trial in a state of disability. It was easier to interview lawyers than before.
The prosecution issued a written opinion to the judge indicating the need to issue additional arrest warrants for Professor Chung. Prosecutors insisted that an additional arrest warrant was issued because three of the 14 charges applied to Professor Chung were not included in the arrest warrant issued on October 23 last year. The three charges of violating the laws against real-name financial transactions and confidentiality, fraud and destructive teaching were not included in the order.
On day 6, the prosecution also filed a 240-page opinion with the court entitled “Need for a restricted trial.” It is unusual for prosecutors to issue more than 200 pages of long-term opinions. At this time, prosecutors also cited key figures issued by additional prosecutors, such as Cho Bum-dong, the fifth nephew of the 55-year-old former Justice Minister, and former President Park Geun-hye, Choi Soon-sil (renamed Choi Seo -won), and former head of the judicial administration Lim Jong-heon.
Professor Chung replied that the prosecution’s accusation was contrary to the purpose of the law, which was limited to the period of imprisonment. Professor Chung’s attorneys responded, saying, “It is a typical separate redemption to find and redeem small crimes to examine major crimes.”
Earlier on the 6th, a petition was filed against the extension of Professor Chung’s arrest. Writers Cho Jung-rae, Hwang Seok-young, director Ji Ji-young, and poet Ando Hyun participated in the petition.
Court “No Escape”
Accordingly, on the 8th, the Seoul Central District Criminal Court Division 25-2 (Judge Jung Yeop Lim) said that after reviewing the allegations and the allegations, both sides decided not to issue an order again. The Court said the reason was that the defendants were unlikely to escape and considered the possibility of destruction of evidence by conducting an investigation into the falsification evidence of the Tongyang University Citation.
However, in the trial held on the 14th, the court will notify Professor Chung that an additional arrest warrant may be issued in the event of future destruction of evidence or attempted escape.
