On March 1, more than 1,400 meeting reports were held in Seoul.

As the second Corona 19 pandemic spread during the Liberation Day rally last year, the police plan to respond strictly.

Reporter Park Hee-jae reports.

Last year’s Liberation Day rally, where tens of thousands of people gathered in central Seoul despite quarantine concerns,

It was the starting point of the secondary infection epidemic, in which more than 1,000 confirmed cases of Corona 19 occurred.

Now, half a year later, this time before March 1, various groups have again foreshadowed a similar gathering.

Conservative groups led by Pastor Kwang-Hoon Jeon reported that they would hold a rally with nearly 1,400 people at the Blue House and Gwanghwamun Square.

The August 15 Emergency Response Committee, which led the Liberation Day rally last year, also reported protests of around 600 people around Gwanghwamun Square.

There are also quite a few reports of so-called ‘split’ gatherings abusing quarantine guidelines and breaking them up into small numbers of people and spreading them out across multiple locations.

Our Republican Party reported on a 9-person rally at 157 locations, including major subway stations.

Excluding the two places that were notified of the ban, the combined number of people exceeded 1,400.

At least 1,500 demonstrations reported on Three Days in the Seoul area.

Police issued a ban notice of 102 cases reported by 13 groups.

This is because there were more than 10 people, or the local government designated it as a forbidden area for the assembly.

Police stressed that they would strictly respond to violations of quarantine laws and regulations.

However, some groups have refused to accept the assembly’s ban and are filing an administrative lawsuit requesting the cancellation of the provision like last year.

There is growing concern that the ‘Rising Pandemic’ will not repeat itself.
