A Korean chemical carrier, ‘Korea Chemie’, bound for the United Arab Emirates was captured by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard in the waters of the Gulf.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard claimed that the capture was in response to a violation of marine environmental guidelines.

20 people, including 5 Korean sailors, were on board.

This is a report from the Park Sang-nam reporter.

The anti-government news agency Pars of Iran reported at the fourth local time that the Revolutionary Guards captured a Korean-born ship in the Gulf Sea and transferred it to port.

Napo’s ship was found to be a ‘Korea Chemie’, a ship from the ship’s DM Shipping in Busan.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard issued a statement stating that “the capture was due to repeated violations of marine environmental regulations by the ship.”

The Revolutionary Guard announced that ‘Korean Chemie’ is being held in the port of Bandar Abbas.

He said: “This arrest is at the request of the Hormuz State Prosecutor’s Office and the Port Authority,” he said. “The judicial authorities will deal with this case.”

20 people, including 5 Korean sailors, were found to be on board the seizure ship.

Foreign media such as AP and Reuters also cited Iranian media and immediately reported the arrest of Korean chemists.

The Hormuju Strait, the entrance to the Gulf waters where the ships were captured, is a strategic point, with about a third of the world’s crude oil shipping.

The Iranian arrest took place amid particularly high military tensions between the United States and Iran.

Iran, the leader of the Islamic Shiites, threatened to blockade the Strait of Hormuz every time military tensions with the United States increased and had captured ships on several occasions.
